Stopping App Nap System Wide in El Capitan

Post by Tidwells@aol.com »

I want to disable App Nap for every application on my live concert Macs. One Mac runs DP 9.12 and the other runs ProVideo Player 2. I hope this will solve a few problems where I have to restart a computer to get the two Macs communicating properly again.

I found this terminal command for Mavericks: defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES

Will this command work in El Capitan as well?

I couldn't find anything on the web about that specific to El Cap, but I did find this page and tried the Safari command (#9). Seems to speed things up considerably!

I doubt there would be much damage in applying the command from Mavericks, but maybe wait until someone (like Mike Halloran) checks in.

Since this is a global command and it would affect settings I have on individual apps, I am not going to test it.

Terminal commands have tightened considerably in each OS. I could give some examples but that would just confuse the issue. Most of the affected commands end in YES or NO.

It won't do anything else—worst case it does nothing in El Cap. If that happens, substitute TRUE and FALSE for YES and NO.
