Avoid EasyDoc Converter malware

If you have Gatekeeper properly enabled, it will not install.

There are many good document converters for the Mac and some are free. Libre Office, for example, lets me read AppleWorks and MacWrite as well as many other old file types in modern OS. It's free but they don't mind if you make a contribution.

Thanks for reminding me about Libre, Mike.

I have a ton of music ed resources in Appleworks and have to use an old G4 to edit them. Pages won't touch the graphics files from Appleworks, and working with graphics in Pages is kind of a nightmare because I'm used to the ease and flexibility of AW.

I think I had tried to load some AW graphics files in Libre years ago, but decided to try it again-- based on your hint above. And I was pleased to see that it loads them almost flawlessly. I'll have to explore to see if I can edit with the same flexibility (snap grid resolution, etc.) The first impression is that it is just a little clunkier, UI-wise, but perhaps it will be less wonky than AW where it counts.

My G4 is used for old ClarisWorks files as much as anything—I did a lot of cassette and CD labels back in the dayand it's nice to be able to rescue and reuse my old artwork. I've not tried them in Libre but will.
