FWIW, When I had odd Mail behavior after moving to Yosemite, re building all mailboxes fixed the problems

It's a good idea, and I just did that. (Took a little while). But sadly no luck with addressing this particular bug.

I suppose it is easy to develop unrealistic expectations from an OS. I can't be objective-- in all my years, there have been ups & downs. Some systems worked more flawlessly than others. It just seems like this basic stuff (iCal, Mail, etc.) worked better in older versions.
M1 MBP; OS 12, FF800, DP 11.3, Kontakt 7, Reaktor 6, PC3K7, K2661S, iPad6, Godin XTSA, Two Ibanez 5 string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FM3, SY-1000, etc.
