Issues? Fixes? DP 9 compatibility? Apparently has the 3rd Party TRIM capability.

Just installed, it's not El Capitan, just an update to Yosemite.

So far so good, no real difference, I'm doing stuff in Word etc. right now, I'll get a chance later tonight to use DP etc.
Done! unfortunately after reading some tech articles it looks like Trim is not going to work via the USB 3 enclosure I got for a Crucial SSD, so I'll just have to install it into the Mac Pro. The enclosure seems to have limited it to SATA II speed (300mbs) anyway so no depreciation of speed from using the SATA bus in the 09 Mac Pro here. Apparently Thunderbolt might work with Trim. I never saw any drop in speed on my SSD from not having Trim, but another advantage is disc wear and tear so there's that.

To my knowledge, only Angelfire has announced support for TRIM over USB 3. There are drivers that must be installed to work with their proprietary housings and drives.

TRIM doesn't work over TB either unless it's a PCIe rack at the other end of that Thunderbolt connection. A number of companies are trying to crack that nut but none have announced a working solution.

It's kind of a drag really, considering for our use (audio, DAWs etc.), the thing that SSDs really help with is big sample libraries, once installed they're read only really, not lot of help from TRIM there. USB 3 and the SATA bus in Mac Pros are bottlenecked at roughly 300mbs so using an external SSD for project files puts you into the no TRIM zone, and using it for sample libraries throttles the speed of the SSD.
For what it's worth on the Mac pro with a Micron/Crucial drive (450mbs read), I'm getting 330-350mbs read through USB 3 from an Inateck PCIe USB 3 card and Inateck USB 3 ssd enclosure.
So less than what they claim, but slightly better than the SATA bus in the Mac Pro.
It's still a good solution for using big sample libraries with the laptop, but it would be nice to have TRIM available for also storing project files on a portable drive. :?

If it's the older Mac Pro, the solution is easy. Use an eSATA dock or housing with a PCIe card. There are cards that support both eSATA and USB 3. eSATA via PCIe runs at 6G, double the speed of the internal SATA bus and supports TRIM.

Sudo trimforce seems to have worked. I say "seems to" because when the machine rebooted, System Report showed all drives with "TRIM Support: Enabled," but the Trim Enabler Utility popped up report that trim was not "On."

Any guesses as to the argument? And which software is right? (I tend to side with the OS.)

I agree with you. Trim Enabler.app installs and removes unsigned .kxt files depending on its status -- that's why you must reboot after changing.

If the OS says that it's enabled, you can believe that.

Remember that Trim Enabler.app unblocks TRIM and allows it to work on unsupported devices. TRIM is part of the OS.

So it's safe to assume that since this thread has d/evolved into a discussion of Trim that the rest of the update is OK?

Ran DP 9 for about five hours last night under 10.10.4. No harm no foul. Didn't notice much of anything changed.
