help with Motu 424 pci

Greetings, i'm new to MOTU software and hardware.
i just picked up a new 2408mkii and installed audio desk in os 9.
i used the setup wizard to set upt the 2408 and install the pci sound manager driver.
however, i don't see any options for choosing input OR output in the 'sound' control panel.
however, when I launch audiodesk, the 2408 finds the clock source and stops blinking.
does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with this kind of thing?
os 9.2.2/audiodesk (list your version here), 2408 mkii, pci 424, pci soundmanager software version, G4/dual 533mHz
