Tip for making Yosemite run more efficiently.

Post by David Polich »

I got this from, of all things, a Ramjet email. I tried it and yes, it really works.

Yosemite uses up a lot of system resources just for the "transparency" feature. To
address that -

Go to System Preferences>Accessibility>Display and check-enable "Reduce Transparency".

I'm finding that applications open more quickly now...especially Safari.

Are you running from a mechanical HD or SSD?

The reason I ask is because Safari takes about a second to launch and connect for me on the rare occasions that I use it.

Faster is always good, though.

Thanks for this! Seems to have given the whole system a little kick in the pants for everything.

While you're at it, also try increasing contrast.
