My computer almost gave up the ghost yesterday morning as an unsolicited software update brought my SSD to within 70 MB of "no disc space available" and crazy stuff started happening.
I was able to use Time Machine to recover about eight related DP files to get my settings, preferences, etc. back (what a scare that was!), but Audio MIDI Setup lost all of its devices and I'd rather not have to go drag all of my little-used MIDI devices out of storage just to recreate them in my AMS setup.
I wasted an hour or more searching on-line for help as well as deep-digging various directories on my computer, to no avail. It's simply been too long since I've had to recover anything from a corrupted AMS, so I don't remember the file names or where they're located. Nothing in Preferences (System or User) seemed to match, or anything under Audio.
Anyone remember where AMS stores its MIDI Device layouts?

Re: Anyone remember where AMS stores its MIDI Device layouts
Thanks; that's where I thought it was, but nothing showed up in Time Machine.
I have a feeling this problem may have occurred earlier than I thought, so I'll go back a week or so in Time Machine now.
Update: When I went back a few days prior to when I thought the system corruption happened, I found a 27 kb Default file vs. the 8 kb empty initial state file.
Nothing changed though; it's still a mostly-empty window on restart of AMS. Likely this requires a reboot, but at this hour I should have been in bed for hours already.
This is a great permanent placeholder if it still doesn't work tomorrow, as then I'll need to go further back in Time Machine.

Re: Anyone remember where AMS stores its MIDI Device layouts
Luckily, after a reboot this morning, AMS reset itself to use the replaced file, and all is good. All of my devices are seen again, so no more errors and reassignments when opening MIDI projects in DP!

Re: Anyone remember where AMS stores its MIDI Device layouts
Woohoo! Excellent, Mark.
I'm guessing that a log-out-and-back-in might've done the trick too, FWIMBW to anyone researching this in future. Perhaps it could be the first move, followed by a reboot if it doesn't.
