First Yosemite 10.10.2 Kernel Panic - not like the others!
Actually the first Yosemite kernel panic, period, and weird it was.
Just updated to 10.10.2 today so I'm blaming that.
Ejected my external (TB) HD dock. Waited about an hour and realized I hadn't shut the power, so I shut the power on the external. BOOM!
Mac forced restart. Report sent to Apple, but strange. No black and white kernel panic window. Just a black screen.

Then is it a kernel panic? How do you detect one if you don't get the B&W text?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:No black and white kernel panic window. Just a black screen.
BTW, your sig says you've been on 10.10.5 for some time now.

Brain fart on the sig. I'll fix it.
Crash report generated to Apple said it was a kernel panic. Yeah, no b & w panic screen.

Confirmed bug, IMO. Did it again but this time I got the kernel panic screen and no prompt to report to Apple.
Thunderbolt external being shut off was not a problem in 10.10.1.
Apple must face!

I've just had exactly the same thing.
Switching off my ultralite is causing the computer to crash.
I'm in the process of restoring 10.10.1
Did you find a solution to the problem, or restored yours too?

Re: First Yosemite 10.10.2 Kernel Panic - not like the other
Please post your machine specs (Mac Pro, etc).
No, there has been no movement on this either at Apple of at the vendor of the offending peripheral. As it commenced with 10.10.2 I'd going with Apple as the culprit.
My connection at upper level Applecare has not responded to my last few emails but assured me he would get back to me this week. If you want to send me your crash report, I will send it to him as the programmers at Apple are looking into the problem. I'll also mention to him that you are having the problem. If you want me to give him your name, please email or PM me with your email address and name and I'll pass it along.
I also got another graphics freeze-up today and reported it to Apple. Basically, every so often the system just locks up. If music is playing it keeps playing but the screen is frozen and the keyboard is locked out, making it impossible to force quit or force power down (pressing and holding the Mac's power button will shutdown the Mac).
There is one other thing to consider: If I simply pull the Thunderbolt connector after ejecting the SATA drives, the Mac doesn't crash. Then I can safely shutdown the dock. It ONLY happens on the Thunderbolt port. The USB 3 dock (also dual SATA) is working fine. Same thing for the Track 16, which is on a TB port but with a FireWire adaptor.

Machine specs are latest MacBook Pro 13" w/retina, solid-state drive. I'm using a thunderbolt-FireWire converter, as my ultralite doesn't have a USB out.
Sorry, I can't send you the crash report as I've already gone ahead with the reversion to 10.10.1 from previous backup.
I too have been getting the odd graphics freeze and also iPad sync problems with iTunes. Seems this update is an absolute dog with fleas.

FYI I just tested 10.10.1 again after reinstalling, and no Kernel Panic issue.

Wow. It's an Apple issue for sure! I'll definitely let Apple know. That's a pretty big one, IMO.

One of the promised features was speeded up Internet access. That has been the opposite of what I am finding. The browser doesn't matter nor is it just SalesForce. Interestingly, Speed Test doesn't show a slowdown.
I've no intention to revert to 10.10.1 as I'm not experiencing any crashing. Still, it's annoying.

Yes, it does seem slower, not faster. I noticed a steady decline in internet access speed a while ago and found your posts about Chrome versus Safari. I've started using Chrome as the default and pretty much dropped Safari. What a difference. And a shame Apple can't match it on their own OS and hardware.

That is not entirely true on my new Mac trash can. Using the mail widget to check for a message count on a couple of my servers used to take about 12 seconds. Now it takes about 3 at most. Not that that in and of itself is reason enough to upgrade.
Sites that were chronically slow remain chronically slow. Facebook is the worst offender by far.
Interestingly, I was having a lot of trouble accessing Google. It just hung forever! Then I cleared Safari of all data (cookies, etc.) and the trouble at that site and a few others cleared up. Even FB was better, but slowed down so I cleared the data again, and again it got back to normal.
So it would appear that cookies and possibly other data stored in Safari (and possibly in the OS system itself) may be slowing things down.
Personally (and I'm not a wacko conspiracist type) I suspect some kind of ad tracking.

I think we can be certain of that. So, over time, I might expect Chrome to bog down as I become a targeted prospect for window replacement, alarms, raybans, and sex aids (don't look, Monkey!)MIDI Life Crisis wrote:I suspect some kind of ad tracking.
Meanwhile, resetting Safari seems to help a bit. But not enough.

MLC, I know you are a savvy user, so no admonishment is intended, but even the most sophisticated users can trip up from time to time.MIDI Life Crisis wrote: Personally (and I'm not a wacko conspiracist type) I suspect some kind of ad tracking.
