I have a friend who is interested in clay animation. She asked me to find out what applications she could use to do the animation. She wants to use a digital camera for the frames and produce MPEG movies as the final product. She's on a somewhat limited budget. She's using a G3 ~400MHz iBook.
So I'm looking for recommendations.
Thanks.

To grab the raw animation I'd hook up a digital camera direct thru firewire and use Premiere's singleframe capture feature. Once you have the material you might want to move to another app for fancier post effects and control like After Effects. You could do a lot with just Premiere and a digital camera though.
