Radikal SAC Control Surface

Post by guidoooo »

I cannot seem to get the unit to follow the screen...it's the other way around...slaves to the screen. Any help here? I also tried to install the SAC2k3.04 firmware update but it's a .mid file. How the heck do I convert that to something useful?

.mid firmware updates work this way (Normally)
In your sequencer you create a MIDI track and insert the file on that track, then you put the deviceto be updated in some sort of update mode.

Assign the MIDI out of that track to the device to receive the MIDI data.

When all is well press play in your sequencer and it should update your device

At least that is how I have updated all of my midid updateable devices. EMU Modules, Mackie Control, etc.....

Those issues are exactly why I purchased the Mackie Control instead of the Sac 2.2K

not to mention they never actually shipped the extenders.....Back when I did my purchase in April It was still up in the air. so......

Yup, I've had it. What do you know about the new Tascam 24 fader unit? Mackie is next if not that.

US-2400 is nice. I prefer the Mackie Control as it is a more complete solution. My gripes about the tascam units is 1- Lack of LCD feedback I didnt get a control surface to stare at the screen all day log. and 2 - All the quick key buttons that you find on the MC are not available on the US-2400. Other than that it is a nice unit. Oh Yeah I like P&G faders versus the generic motorized faders they use.

I have an original SAC-2K which was at firmware rev. 3.01 and working in OS X. I could not get it to flash successfully to 3.04 in OS 10.3.5/DP 4.12.
Felipe at Radikal tech support told me to try flashing it on a PC, which I don't have, or send it to him and he would flash it.
I tried the same file on OS 9.2.2/DP 3.11 and it
worked. It comes up as Firmware 3.04 beta and is supposed to work with Reason and has a few other new features.

I am running my G4 dual with the Sac2.2 and after they finally released the update earlier this year I had fun accessing the plug-ins and I even toyed with the idea to add the extender. So much for that whim. Jorge at Radikal was very helpful and if he is still there is a good source for problems. It is a very well made unit. I am not at the most current update for firmware but it is working so well i don't want to mess around just now. That extender would sweeten the deal but I think Radikal is not fiscally sound and are pouring their bucks into thier synth project. If enough people complain there might be an incentive to put a push on improvements and add-ons. feedback appreciated.......

when I talked to RadiKal before i purchase my Mackie Controls, they told me that there was not enough interest in the Extender for them to finish development and production. (I was pissed cuz it looks so nice and takes up less desk space than the MC.)

Maybe they would be interested in selling a couple of "leftovers". I'll email my contact there and if i get any thing to report I will post it under hardware on this BB.

I just got a Radikal SAC 2.2 2 weeks ago and had the same problem trying to update with DP 4.12 (BAD FLASH) I tried it with free CUBASIS on my PC and worked perfectly. (after it plays till the end of the sequence, it automatically goes back to the beginning and plays(dumps) the whole thing again)
