will more RAM help my G4

Post by bdr »

I have a G4 867 dual with 1 gig RAM...will more RAM make any kind of noticeable performance difference or do I have to bite the bullet and go G5...I want to run morphology but not many other VIs.

Thanks
Brett

What is the maximum RAM allowed on your G4? On my AGP Graphics it's 1 GB. There might be some issues with certain VI's or plug-ins and more than 1 GB RAM.

I think you have enough RAM at 1 GB, that's my personal opinion. It's your processor which is the thing that needs to be addressed. Check out processor upgrades here:

and here:

Because of the slower bus architecture and other issues regarding the G4 vs. the G5, you will never be able to turn your G4 into a G5 even with the fastest processor upgrade and
the maximum allowed RAM and the fastest drives you can get.
