I Would buy a single proccesor G5 over a dual G4 for several reasons:1Buss speed 800Mhz vs. 167Mhz. 2.8 gigs of ram
vs.4.Those are very important factors because everything bottlenecks at the buss. I have both machines and my G5 is light years beyond my G4

Hi all
I posted on several occasions on motu-mac about the difference in thruput latency OS 9 / OS X. ( i.e. mixerless rig )
I compared a project on a dual 1.2 mdd / OS 9 and a dual 2 g G-5 / OS X.
The buffer setting etc, the same, OS X had about double the latency, so I had to lower the buffers on OS X to half, and that gave the dual 2 g G-5
a cpu benefit of just a couple of percents.
If you depend on mixerless ( going thru DP ), you can save all the bucks for OS X software and stay in OS 9...
