Samples with the new Mac Pro

Post by weaselxr »

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience or advice with sample libraries on the new Mac Pro. I have about 2TB of samples I want to use externally. I was planning on putting them on SSDs in a thunderbolt enclosure like the OWC ThunderBay as separate drives. Will there be issues with bottlenecking? Would it be better to have them be separate drives, or will having them in 1 enclosure work just as well?

Thanks

Firmtek have a great Thunderbolt to eSATA solution for housing up to 12 SSD with port multiplier technmology. I can't imagine any bottleneck problems with this rig: http://www.firmtek.com/seritek/thundertek/px6g22/

No

All TB enclosures support some flavors of RAID. Ideally, you want one that also supports JBOD.

Way overkill for what you want to do. Besides, there are faster solutions available.
