Reload Project

Post by Koz »

I went to reload several projects (a complete CD's worth) produced on a B&W G3 in DP4 (possibly DP3, the project files are dated July 2003). The files had been stored on a large ZIP drive. When copied to an iMac G5 the files appear a black blobs. Normally as soon as I use "get info" and tell the "blob" file to open with the proper application (in this case DP) the files open. Not this time! We need to recut the vocals, but cannot afford to re-hire the musicians, so I can't afford to lose these files. How can I get DP OSX to open these projects?

What format did you use when storing ? Did you stuff the 'stuff' ?

I simply dragged the CD folder (about seven songs, photographs, liner notes files), which contained a series of DP project folders to a 40GB ZIP drive. I didn't need to stuff or compress the files. So, it was "drag and drop"

Only thing I can think of is, the format of the ZIP drive doesn't allow for drag and drop without having it stuffed or zipped first.
Do you know how the ZIP's format ? PC maybe ?

This is possible. When this problem has appeared with other applications (usually when reloading projects that were composed while using OS9), adding the proper suffix fixed everything. Since DP files don't have a dedicated suffix (like .doc or .ppt) I may not be able to recover them. Too bad. Thank you for your help.

FileBuddy helped me one time to set the file properties right.
You can copy these parameters with FileBuddy from a working DP file
