Does anyone have info on the performance difference of 768 mb versus 1.25 gb of ram to run DP4 (and some softsynths) on a new iBook or PowerBook?
I'm upgrading from my Powerbook G4 550 to one of the newer laptops and wondering what I might expect out of my setup in either ram scenario.
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: RAM benchmarks for DP4
I can't give you exact specs, but I can give you anecdotal data:
I went from a G4 400 tower with 1 gig of RAM, running DP 2.7 under OS 9.2.2, to a Powerbook G4 1.5ghz with 2 gigs of RAM, running DP 4.5 under (as of today) OS X .3.7.
For power and stability and sheer grooviness: My present system beats the crap out of my old system, and my old system worked pretty well. I was sure to get the faster HD in the Powerbook; even though 5800 ain't 7200, it's been working fine. Of course, I save files to a faster Glyph FW external.
Hope this helps.
You can never have too much RAM.
