Expensive now, but sure to drive SSD costs lower and capacities higher in the months and years to come.

Right now, the 850 1T is available pre-order for $729.99

The 840 1T is now $431.99

I have been waiting to see what the new gen of SandForce drives will bring us but I have yet to see an announcement of shipping product from anyone. Between the new low prices on the 840 and the 'built like a tank' promise of the 850, I do not plan to wait for the next gen SandForce drives.

I think that, if one does not need to be a first adopter, patience will be rewarded and some resellers will drop the price a bit on the 850. In any case, I'll make my decision sometime in September or October.
