DVD tray opens on bootup

X.3.7 with an internal Pioneer DVR-105. Upon bootup, the tray opens. No problems, I just close it, but I would like to know why it is opening? I've never had that happen. I have an ATTO SCSI card, but nothing else. I have a 40gig drive on the bus as the master and the DVR set to slave. Should I have it the other way around?

Huh. Never heard of that before. Could it be that there's something in your Startup Items that's causing this?

Try Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts
Click Startup Items and see if there's anything there that might be the culprit.

iCal alarm scheduler and iTunes helper are both in there, but they don't seem like something that would cause the DVD to open up.

Hmm. Try getting rid of the iTunes helper from that. It's not in mine, and maybe that will stop the drive from opening.

Well, after the latest security update the opening DVD on startup problem has vanished. Whatever they had in that update changed something and now it boots up normally every time.
