Here's some more on it. Doesn't sound too bad if you're outside Australia and even so, if you;re using a 4 digit passcode you can still access your devices. Still, it's a serious problem.

Being an Oztralian, I am glad I never signed up for iCloud.

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

I don't use iCloud, but my friends who do insist it's "perfectly safe." Yea right!

I don't think you can fault iCloud security for this one. From the follow up reports, it looks like the people affected gave out their iCloud info as a result of a phishing attempt by the perps.

I'm not faulting iCloud security. I'm just saying it ain't "perfectly safe."

It certainly isn't. All you need is one rogue employee at one of the many telecoms, or server farms.
