iLok ZDT covers lost/stolen now.

Post by NazRat »

I don't know if this is general knowledge or not, but iLok now covers lost or stolen iLoks WITHOUT having to contact the vendors for new licenses. You have to turn coverage on in the iLok License Manager and AFAICT you need to phone home once every ninety days to keep your licenses current. That way anyone stealing (or finding) your iLok would have a maximum license life of 90 days since they wouldn't have access to your account to reauth licenses. Certainly makes the iLok and ZDT much easier and more attractive.

It is good news, but FYI Pace says it only applies to iLok2, and you need to toggle it on after you've bought ZDT for that iLok.

Anyway, ZDT is definitely worth having.

BTW, for situations with Waves on the iLok, this is from the Waves site:
Downgrades from Waves V9 to earlier versions and iLok authorization are no longer available for Waves products.

If you have a lost/defective iLok key, you can update to Version 9 free under the Waves Update Plan.

An iLok RMA is no longer necessary at this time for these situations.

I have an iLok 2 so I'm good there. :)

I have both, but my iLok 1 is due to renew ZDT next week, so it might be a good time to switch everything over to the iLok 2.

I had both. In fact have a few of the iLok 1s and an extra iLok 2 which is, I was told, a limited edition white model. It's an easy thing to move them all over to one iLok.

Also one little tip... but keep the iLok 1 around even after you move licenses to the iLok 2. I found that it was handy having it to reduce clutter on my iLok 2, by transferring expired demo licenses to the iLok 1.

Hmmm... I should probably get an iLok 2 before ZDT renews for me next month.
