10.9.3 Beta? FYI

Post by joelfriedman »

Just an FYI for those of you having Mavericks problems. I'm still waiting to switch over.

"Apple is currently asking developers to focus on Graphics Drivers and Audio, and there is no word yet on specific fixes and changes included in the update."

Got the official release today through Software Update. It allows iPhone sync through USB once again. That's a biggie for me.

I haven't done the update yet, but the release notes make special mention of retina displays, so I'm hoping this fixes outstanding issues with Java 8 on Mavericks, where window sizes aren't coming out right and stuff that should fit is getting clipped (this is in desktop apps, not browser-hosted stuff).

A couple of things I have noticed:

My Magic Trackpad now requires me to click the button (opposite the battery cover) after my iMac wakes up. I haven't explored whether this is a new preference designed to save battery power (and can be reverted) or just an annoyance. It's just a quick click; I don't have to hold the button down so I might leave it alone. I get 3 weeks or more from a battery charge so It wasn't an issue.

My iMac now takes a lot longer to wake up from sleep. It used to wake up on touching the space bar but now I have to wait 15-30 seconds. That is annoying.

I've been contemplating doing the update myself. Glad to hear DP 8 still works on it. Does anyone have any experience with some of iZotope's stuff, whether it's affected by Maverics? Specifically rx....
