Crash Report Help

Post by cbergm7210 »

Hey guys,

Was watching a video from my wife of our kids when all of a sudden it started to studder, then it stopped then the whole computer went black and shut down. Never seen this before.

Can any of you geniuses out there read this crash report and tell me what possibly caused this kernal issue?

Thanks again for the help!

I actually checked it not too long ago, but wouldn't hurt to check it again.

See anything in the report to document that theory?

Maybe I am incorrect...but the whole ending list just looks like a laundry list of what my system consists of when one sends the crash report to Apple...including the memory and graphics card specs...not having to do to with anything with the crash. :?:

Did you ever get this fixed? The Bresink temperature monitor was your culprit. It crashes Macs beginning with OS 10.8.2.

The fix is to use Find. Look for every instance of bresink and send it to the trash. Look through system and hidden files to get them all.

The fix is to use Find. Look for every instance of bresink and send it to the trash. Look through system and hidden files to get them all.
Thanks!

I did the Find command in Terminal (this is what you are referring to?) and I got a bunch of "Permission Denied" lines. Do you know why?

I was referring to Find in the Finder. Everything that contains bresink, right-click and send to Trash. This won't get it all.

You have to go to the dropdown menus. One will give you the option of including System files. Select and do it again. A few more will show up.

I forget if you also have to go to show hidden files o get the rest of it but, with some of these issues, you do.

Empty the Trash, do everything again to make certain it is gone completely. If it crashes again and bresink shows up again, you didn't get it all. i speak from experience.

Terminus.kext is another file that crashes OS 10.8.2 on. It installs with Spin Doctor included with Toast. It's easy to find and if you know that Spin Doctor no longer works from 10.6 on, easy to avoid. Terminus.kext only installs when you first try to run SD.
