New Print Driver issue easily resolved

Post by mikehalloran »

Software Update installed new print drivers yesterday but didn't require a reboot. It should have.

My scanners were giving me grief this morning. Rebooting fixed the problems.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. I'll be re-booting the laptop when I hit the sack.

Many will look at this and think, "well, duh..."

My job requires me to have over a dozen tabs open that I must log into plus another dozen or so that I must navigate to once I clear a home page. Then I have to get past other screens and try to find the one I was working on - in each tab. Even though Lion and Chrome make the process much easier, rebooting still causes me extra work. For that reason, I never do unless I must.

But Software Update usually enforces an automatic re-start when the drivers require it. Not so in this case!

True.

Many security updates and others no longer force a reboot but print drivers usually do. I noticed it was odd so, when I had problems, I figured reboot first, see if the problem was resolved. Life goes on...
