Java and Safari

Java is behaving quite badly with Safari. It's very sluggish, crashes often, or causes Safari to crash. I pretty sure I have the latest update installed.
Anyone else having similar problems?

There have been updates in the last few weeks. Check Software Update to make cure you have the latest. Safari is being squirelly, though - it's not you.
FireFox has had two updates in the last week and is behaving better for me than Safari on some sites including SalesForce where I live for a good portion every day.

I believe I'm up to date on everything, so I may have to use Firefox on some sites, as well.

Some sites won't even load in Safari or load painfully slowly. It's not you.

JAVA keeps coming up in repair permissions as well for me.
Safari has been painful for me as well, and don't start me on flash.
Hopefully there will be an update soon.
Ps and yes everything is up to date.

There was a new Safari release yesterday (5.01) which does seem more reliable.

AH thank you good sir, they must of been reading my comments when you send them the crash reports (can't not be posted on this site, due to the amount of expletives involved)

Did the update yesterday. So far, things are better with both Java and Flash.

Things went along better for awhile, but now it's even worse. Now not just java crashes, or safari, I get a complete crash. The screen goes blue, and then rather quickly the login screen comes up and I have to reboot.
Anybody else having these problems?

Is there a particular site that does this? I seem to recall some Webkit that I think the OS installs. It might be possible to reinstall that without doing the whole damn OS.
Also, are all your security updates installed? How about a different browser? Do they do the same thing?

As far as I know, I'm up to date on everything.
The problem so far seems to be primarily from one site. However, I tried using Firefox, but it doesn't seem to be working at all. At first, I tried opening Firefox preferences, and it opened up a blank window-- the only things visible were the OK and Cancel buttons.
I successfully opened up a couple of web pages, but all links were dead.
I trashed Firefox, and reinstalled using a newly downloaded installer. The preference pane came up, but all links on web pages were dead. The only way to open any link was to right click, and then open in a new window.
Bizarre behavior all the way around.

Well if you want to share the URL I'm happy to try it. Otherwise, I'd say try it on another machine.

I ended up reinstalling Snow Leopard and the java update.
Things are much improved, although still a little hinky. Problems with permissions still show up anytime I run disc utility, though much fewer in number.

Where did you find the Java update, as the last time I when to the apple site it was unavailable
