Crash logs in Windows?

Post by PoliticalBonobo »

Does anyone know where DP crash logs are stored in Windows 10? I'm getting sudden DP crashes and am trying to figure out what's causing it. Nothing shows up in Windows Event Viewer, so I thought I'd see if DP stores crash info.

Yes - crash dumps should be under System/Users/(username)/AppData/Local/CrashDumps

I don't think MOTU has a separate, non-system location for internal dumps, but they might (Steinberg does for Nuendo/Cubase). I have a DP crash in the above folder so at least system-related DP crashes should end up there.

This is Windows 8.1, but should be the same on 10 as well.

Hmm, I don't have that folder. I just got a response from MOTU, and apparently crashreporter sends to them automatically (?).

It is likely created when Windows creates a crashdump related to an application, but might not if the crashdump is issued by the application itself. I know Avid's Eucon crash reporter can send automatically, but it gives the option with a popup. MOTU's may be internal and automatic.
