Was on MOTU.com this morning and noticed this.

AudioDesk 4 FREE DOWNLOAD for all MOTU audio interface owners

Finally, a Windows version, too.

If it's like the Mac version, it will not work without a MOTU interface. This might be useful for troubleshooting, too.

BTW, if you have DP 8 for Windows, you do not need this download. AudioDesk is an audio only (no MIDI) 'lite' version of Digital Performer for owners of MOTU hardware.

He's posting this in the DP [Windows] forum, so the assumption is that DP Windows users are reading this and they don't need AudioDesk if they already have DP. Might be good to post this in the MOTU Hardware forums also I guess.

Mac users have had AudioDesk since v.1 – how many of us first came to DP via the upgrade path besides me? Old news, I figure.

Although MOTU hardware has been available to Windows users for many years now, AD-4 is the first bundled DAW for those owners.

I should look at the feature set again. I wonder what efficiencies might be gained for remote work with borderline/challenged computers.

I've had several tries so far and always get fatal error 0x80070643 after less than 5% of the install process.

Have you seen this error. Did you figure out how to fix it?

I'm on it. Might take a while. Seems like error 0x80070643 is something of a bucket code for a number of different issues. So I'm going to be careful and take my time. Don't want to make things worse given that everything else is currently hunky dory.

I've already run the MS NET framework scan utility on all my versions and I get a clean bill of health on all of them. So that's one potential cause down.

Plenty more to go.....

Same issue over here.
Can not install on my Windows 8 used several compatibility ways.

The C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{3CEB86EC-F7BC-4E97-BD2D-B842C842DF93} folder and package ADData.msi is probably missing in the install.

My AD 4.01.64520 installation "works" on Windows 7 32 bit, but crashes every time I try to point to my Native Instruments plug-ins. I opened up a tech support ticket for this and they could duplicate the issue. So I'm hoping for an update someday. By the way, it works fine in the DP demo I downloaded.

So I was hoping to spend my energy on the learning curve and trying to get up to speed, not trying to get the software to just work. Now, I'm frustrated enough that I am looking at other entry level DAWs that are more Windows friendly. Hrmph.
