DP 8, Windows 7 and Yamaha 01v96i ? audio hardware invalid..

Hello,
Just trying DP8.04 demo on my Windows 7 computer.
Note: it does work when the audio hardware is set to
ASIO Presonus Firestudio (Firewire)
However when I click on OK after setting the hardware to
Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO (the Yamaha 01V96i) I get the message:

"Digital Performer has encountered an error.
The audio hardware is in an invalid or unsupported mode. Check that
the device is not in use by another application or Windows."

Which it is not in use by another application.
Searching this forum turns up that several people are having
trouble with different ASIO drivers.

So I wonder if anyone is using the Yamaha 01V96i Steinberg USB ASIO
driver on Windows 7 (or other Windows) successfully?
Or having the same problem that I am having?
