A trick for people who don't remember keyboard shortcuts

Post by PoliticalBonobo »

Maybe I'm alone, but if a keyboard command is more than two keys (e.g. Ctrl + Alt + Shift + key) then I probably won't remember it. Something that I did to greatly increase my workflow efficiency is use my ipad for shortcuts, which looks like this:

I started making this template in TouchOSC. It's not finished yet, but I have my most frequently-used shortcuts on here. In TouchOSC, I simply set each button to be a MIDI CC on channel 16. Digital Performer is awesome in that it lets you assign MIDI CCs to commands in the Commands window.

I know others have posted pre-made DP iPad templates on here, but this is so easy you can build your own to your liking.

Hope someone finds this useful.

By the way, I posted a pretty large and detailed post on using TouchOSC over at the Cantabile Community forum, including mappings of the presets in a few of the layouts that come standard with TouchOSC. Check it out - I hope it inspires someone!
