Locating general MIDI sound module for Windows and DP9

Post by GBV »

I am new to DP, running DP9 on Windows 10. Where do I find a general MIDI instrument for Windows that is similar to DLS for Mac on earlier versions of DP?
Thanks

If you are looking for something similarly simple, look at the new Sound Canvas VA from Roland

Looks like a great choice, but Roland web page says the SOUND Canvas is not normally recognized as a plug-in in Digital Performer 9 on Windows. So, I continue to look for a solution. Thanks.

I didn't see that in the PDF, sorry. Another you could try is: https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/

It will let you load SFZ, SF2 and DLS files.

Not sure if you're still looking, but I did this same search a few months ago.

I settled on Halion Sonic. If you buy Halion 5, you get Halion Sonic as well. It's pretty programmable and has some nice additional features besides just bread & butter sounds.

I caught Halion on sale for half-price back in Feb. Not sure when they'll do that again, though.

Please note: I'm still on DP8, so I can't verify this will work on 9.
