some newbie questions

Post by mikeharper »

Hello: Trying to get a little faster, I researched these topics already but I don't have answers.
1. Whats is the fastest way to rename track. I have been right clicking .. open in sequence.. right lick ... rename. I don't see any commands.
2. Mute a MIDI region. Am I missing something?? The mute tool only works with audio? how do I mute just a portion of a MIDI track.
3. tracks keep vanishing in the mixer. After I select tracks for the mixer sometime latter they vanish and i have to do it again. not sure why. Any ideas?
Thanks in advanced.

re: #2, I don't think DP has this functionality the way some DAW's do. It has been brought up a few times. There are other ways to work around it, like dragging the section to another nearby track.

re: #3, there is some logic about what tracks are selected & visible in the mixer. You can open the sidebar and select the tracks you want to view. If you don't close the mixer window, (just moving it behind other windows) it should remember your selected/visible tracks.

I'm not sure if I have that all 100% right.

Correct weight, Stubbsy.

The OP could also try saving the current mixer config as, well, a mixer config.

Even though one might have a bunch of 'em (MIDI tracks only, audio only or various combinations thereof with / without Aux FX channels etc.), I think it pays to save a current-state setup any time you anticipate returning to it repeatedly.
