Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

New $1700 reference headphones from Focal: 5 Hz!

I didn't even read the description. Way out of my budget range. But there may be people on this forum who NEED these unique cans that go all the way down to 5 Hz in linear response.

My more affordable pair of Focal headphones arrive on MON (under $300). I recently upgraded my Beyerdynamics sets to the 1000-series $600 sets and it's a world of difference. My other set is the AKG K702. All of these are fairly honest in the low end but certainly cut off by 40 Hz or so.

I love my Focal monitors, but I don't love any cans that cost $1,700!

Can a 5 Hz wavelength even translate to the ear at such short distance?

No, i think it would feel like a mild breeze. But maybe the point is that any response at 5 Hz means a flat response down to 20. (If that matters to anyone).

Right; I was just having fun with the marketing lit.

It's the same as going to 200 kHz, which I see on some high-end stuff. It's really about how likely it is to have a linear response within the full human hearing spectrum (which is different per person and is simply "roughly" 20 Hz to 20 kHz, but mostly that's just "easy to remember" and is why it is so oft-quoted).
