Talkback Mic in Control Room ... remote?

Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Talkback Mic in Control Room ... remote?

Post by wonder »

I use CueMix to send my headphone feeds.

I built a little push button On/Off switch out of an old Tube Screamer pedal to trigger my talkback on/off.

Its all well and good when I'm talking to the musicians ... but when there's a guest producer, He has to tell me when he wants to talk to them and I hold down the switch.

Anyone have a better solution? IR controlled remote?

I'd love to give someone a remote switch and let them do it themselves.

If you have an iPad or Android tablet, you can use the TouchOSC interface MOTU provides. It actually does work with either version of TouchOSC (IOS or Android).

Get TouchOSC from http://Hexler.net

Or just leave a mic hot in the control room and route to talent's cans but not monitor speakers.

I wrote a guide for TouchOSC you might find useful, originally for the Cantabile 3 community, and Brad incorporated it into his blog as a guest post:

https://blog.cantabilesoftware.com/use- ... 3aa33d76aa

It explains a few things quickly. (But the manual is still handy, of course!)
