I have 4311's that I've had for 30 years. When I bought them one of them all the speakers were
blown and the crossover too. There is a sound company here in Maryland called RCI Systems
they've been around since 1971. I know the owner and 2 of the sales guys so I can check and find out if they still can get JBL parts. I wouldn't be surprised if the tweeters are the same in both the 4410 and 4311's. Since you're in CA you could call JBL direct I would think. JBL seems to have parts for a lot of their old stuff. I have a bunch of JBL just because I always thought I could get parts. I'll call in the morning and see what I can find out. I bought all my MOTU PCI 2408
etc from one of the sales guys.

Hmmm... thanks for the info. I should have tried JBL first. Only problem for me is I don't like getting into confrontations and I'm concerned these guys in Florida are going to want to exchange it. I'm going out of town tomorrow so this is a bad time to try and deal with this. It might have to wait till i get back.

Do you want to get the tweeter reconed or the whole tweeter. I had all the speakers reconed
when I got them fixed. I'll call my friend and find out what works.

It doesn't look like it's that expensive. I think I just want to get a whole new tweeter.

Sorry I pointed you in that direction, James. I thought as an authorized JBL dealer, everything on that page was OEM (and for those prices, it should be). I didn't read the fine print. :? Sorry man.

OK I talked to my guy and he pointed me to Scavenger Sound Inc. I know that guy too John Harding. I put a message on his machine, I know him also from 20 years ago so I'm getting closer!

Well I received a reply to my email from them and they told me to just toss out the one that I have and their shipping me a new one free of charge. Makes me think that these things, being Chinese, are pretty cheap. That said, I'm probably going to just go ahead and accept the one that comes in and see if that one is okay, for now. I just honestly don't want to go through the hassle of calling the guy and pushing for return/refund instead.

Thank you though to all those who have offered to help me find alternatives. This will just be easiest if the next one is good.

I've dealt allot with simply speakers in FL as long as the drivers are close in spec I wouldn't worry about getting original part.
But I think your going to find you'll have to replace both sides.

Well I think the other side was already replaced once and the tweeters weren't identical in terms of the terminal placement. So I hope you were implying that the other one might fail soon and not that I have to get another tweeter in order to "match" the one that Simply Speakers is sending me.

To end the story: I received the second replacement tweeter and this one is fine and have installed it and seems to be working great. Kudos to Simply Speakers for taking care of things and not making be go through a return process, etc.
