Sorry Jim, I didn't save the manual, just accessing it while on the site.Gravity Jim wrote:Tonio wrote:uh oh,

You got the manual? For the NanoKontrol Studio, not the NanoKontrol2? Send it to me!! I got the USB driver, but I've been begging Korg for the manual for a day and a half now.

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
Korg USA says they are working with Japan to rectify the owner's manual situation. Admittedly, I did it again... bought one of the first ones (my serial number is 3 digits), but this is still very poor UX.

Further info from Korg USA:
"I probably won’t hear back until Monday due to the time difference and weekend. I’ll make sure we get you the info you need asap!"
So I'm expecting something Monday. Here's hoping.

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
Here's the scoop from Korg USA:
For whatever reason, the owner's manual and editor's software for the NanoKontrol Studio will not make it's appearance on the Korg website until Friday, March 18th.
So, if you own one, you can either look at it and think, "well, I wanted one of these but I can't buy it until the 18th," or you have plenty of time to return it and buy another control surface, which you can have running long before Korg gets their act together.
I'm probably going with the former.

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
E-mail from Korg USA this morning: they've released the owner's manual, updated editor software and an updated USB driver for the NanoKontrol Studio today, a week earlier than predicted.
There's even a plug-in for Logic that integrates the NKS completely with the DAW. So I can use this nifty device with both DP and Logic, and not pay an extra 100 bucks for the privilege.

Hey Jim,
assuming your using it for mixing duties & transport, how is it for MIDI CC's running a VI and such?

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
Dumb question: how easy is it (and how do you do it) to adapt to a controller with un-motorized faders? My old BCF2000 works well with Logic, but seems to get more and more distant from DP over time, and it makes a racket. The Korg looks like a good replacement function-wise, but the lack of motorized faders looks like a interruption to an easy work flow.

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
No, I love Slate. They just rushed Raven for DP to market: an incredible line of plug ins and excellent CS doesn't change that.
Tonio, I'm sure you could easily set up scenes fir that, but I'm fine running plugs with the mouse, so I haven't tried.

Re: Korg NanoKontrol2 - Thoughts
Whatever.
To return to topic:
I ended up returning my Korg NanoKontrol Studio: I thought that I could deal with non motorized faders, but it turned out to be just to great a hassle.
I still wouldn't need them if someone made a device that was all rotary encoders that just rolled on-screen faders up and down relative to their current position. Resetting an entire mix - or worse yet, banks of 8 faders within a mix - so that the physical fader and the on-screen fader are in the same spot? Well, it was something I had to experience to really hate.
Traded it in on an optical compressor stomp box, and started using an iPad I had laying around with a app called DAW Control that I really like: easy set-up and everything worked off the bat. If you've got an iPad there are some nice control surface solutions.
