DA Conversion. HD24 vs MOTU 2408mk3

I'm shuffling a lot of things around in my studio.

Getting rid of my Tascam DM24 and stripping down.

My question is ...

which DA converters are superior (if anyone has run any tests or had first hand experience)?

Alesis HD24 or MOTU 2408mk3

I need to get ANALOG outputs to feed my studio monitors and wondering if I should go directly from my 2408 via the Analog Outputs -- OR -- go ADAT into my Alesis HD24, then analog out into my monitors that way.

I'm doing away with a physical mixer and going virtually all ITB.

The extra conversion could induce unwanted latency. My original setup (1999) wasn't much different except that I used a 2408 in standalone so that I could access all 8 channels of my Fostex FD8 — could only be done via 8 track.

latency from the DA on the hd24?

i used to use my DM24 Tascam for DA conversion ... would this be much different?
