I really must be losing it. I am an ardent UAD user of many years but I hear nothing in this vid desirable beyond maybe the first slight tweak. What do you guys think?

Doesn't do much for me, neither.

The best part of the video is at about 3:41 when the spider walks across the screen.

Well, I guess if it's distortion you're after, then it doesn't sound like crap. It seems to do distortion (of a certain type) well. Personally I don't like distortion on vocals (except maybe a little compression which is a type of distortion, I guess). So, to me, it sounds like crap. The distortion on the acoustic guitar works ok for me, but I think I would have gone electric in the first place if I wanted that sound. I don't know. Bottom line, do I want this plug-in? Hell no.

The accent of the fake presenter is fake posh - so you'd have to assume the whole thing is a parody (what company would make a presentation video like this?) - and I can't hear anything worthwhile in any of the before and after examples. A lot of plug-in processors are Emperor's new clothes to my ears anyway so this is no different.

Yes, that's what I noticed. And the "Masterpiece Theatre" set and music. They might as well have had John Cleese do it.

Oh yeah, and the hardware comes at a very real price, too...around $2399.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Neve-type of sound, but this particular unit just doesn't do it for me for some reason. I'm not sure why. Maybe if I had one and had time to really use it properly. I'm guessing the video doesn't demonstrate what this box or plug-in actually might be able to do, IMO.

I'm definitely not interested.

There are times when a bit of distortion comes in handy on percussion. I might use a little on kicks and snares. This is my distorter of choice:

https://www.izotope.com/en/products/eff ... nts/trash/

Lots of useful videos on how to use it effectively.

It often goes on sale and/or is available from resellers at a good price.

I love distortion with all my heart but there are certain kinds of distortion which are rich in tone and very musical. Sure - there is a time for just butt ugly punk rat distortion but you don't have to spend money on fancy tube emulation plugs to get that. Safe to say I can just overdrive (clip) and get similar distortion to what the vid shows. Maybe it's a good plug but dang - they aren't showing it to be. Is quality production just over? Are we in the post ears era now?

See - I can appreciate a real creative tool like that. Good demo vid.
