What do you guys think of Presonus?

How does the Digimax LT compare to other units as an analog -> ADAT front end? I know Apogee makes the best A-to-D boxes, but the price is very expensive. I'm not familiar with other units.

I am probably going to end up with a sound card that has both analog and ADAT inputs, but I'll need to plug in outboard gear via analog into something like a Digimax LT (or whatever is good?) then run the ADAT to the sound card's input.

BTW, just curious if anyone know how to compare the quality of Analog-to-Digital converters on different hardware?

For exmaple, comparing a MOTU 896 vs. the Presonus Firepod vs. Tascam FW-1804. How do you know which has the better mic-pres and better A-to-D converters?
