Using headphones for tracking

So this is probably a dumb question. I am going to be recording live drums for the first time and never had to have headphones more than 5 feet from my powerbook. I have a headphone amp. If the drums are about 20 feet from me, how do I reach the drummer from the amp? Should I just get a really long 1/8" extension? How do people do this? Like I said-- a stupid question.

That ought to work fine. Radio Shack carries some fairly inexpensive headphone extension cables.
