How To Build Your Own "Recording" Light

Post by wonder »

in my studio, sometimes people have entered the front and walked into the live room interrupting a take. I'm looking to build a simple "recording" light.

a basic switch that can be kept at my position and connected to a bulb that I'll fasten above the door.

there's no electricity or light housing at that spot so I'm guessing I'm going to have to fashion something on my own.

Anyone ever done this? Got any pointers?

You need a remote control battery operated LED surface mounted light. This is one, but there are other that might work better:

You'd have to put it inside something that has the notification that recording is in process.

I'm not in direct shot of the entrance to the Live Room. My control room has a wall between my sitting position and the entrance to the live room. I'm not sure the remote would reach the light.

I'd hate to have to hardwire a light and small switch to the light but it might be what I have to do. It'd be nice to have those LED's be red ... or a red lightbulb to notify the other tenants or band members that someone is tracking.

Found some cool stuff here .. still unsure of the details of some of these lights but at least here's some options and would look better than a homemade version
