Using an iPad or iPhone as an instrument

Post by JohnnyCitroen »

Hi all, I'm a newbie to the forum. Mostly use DP8 for guitar, vocals and piano - it's an amazing piece of software!

I've been playing around with some of my iPad music apps and was wondering what is the best way to record it directly into my iMac? Does anyone know if there's an interface capable as seeing it as both a MIDI controller as well as record the audio output as an instrument in DP8? Thanks for any helpful reply and happy holidays!

Your question really isn't telling us what you are trying to do.

I never use my iPad as a MIDI controller. I do play the GarageBand instruments all the time. Either I play the screen or I use a Line 6 keyboard controller for my iPad. I run a guitar cable through a 1/8" - 1/4" adapter from my iPad into my 828. It would work just as well with my iPhone.

The Line 6 works as a MIDI controller for DP on my Mac also and I have used it for that as we'll. It is bus powered from my iPad or USB.

I don't know if it would work for your purpose since I don't understand your goal.

Mine is the 49 key version.
