Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Positive ethereal soundscapes from Native Instruments?

Post by KarlSutton »

I cannot afford Omnisphere which probably has what I'm looking for - any suggestions on Native Instruments since their sale ends today?

Seems like Evolve stuff is kind of dark & menacing - I need more dramatic & positive.

Thanks!

From the things mentioned, I would imagine Absynth is your best bet, along with some traditional field recording, and maybe massive or other pitched synths. "Positive" soundscapes require consonant tones and then maybe some natural noises (if you're going for a new age vibe). A lot of the more involved stuff out there is going to be focused on complex, random, dissonant content. Serene soundscapes need to breathe and not overwhelm, so just a few layers at a time will probably be all you want. Lots of delays and reverbs with large pre delays, filtered white noise, etc. Absynth is great for this, but don't count out the old analog synth either, with some shimmering reverb and lots of quiet tonal content, you can do a lot.
