Dumping 2 Adat machines thru a 2808mk2, How?

How should I plug the adat master - adat slave - MOTU 2408mk2 together so that I can dump all of the individual tracks into Cool edit pro for mixing?

I tried the optical cables but I get more noise/static than sound. So much so that I have to strain to hear the tracks. Their incredibly distorted. I can't get any answers from either alessis or MOTU.

I don't have ADATs, but generally any time you have static on a digital connection, it's a clock issue. I'm not sure what the conventional wisdom is on which unit should be the clock source (I'd say the 324/424 card, but again, I don't know ADAT quirks), but you should choose one and then make sure that everything else is pointing to it.

Hopefully some experts will chime in here soon.

that's ok, no need for the experts you were right. The clock had to be set to slave off the master ADAT, and the second I changed the setting, no more static.

If you have tree adat devices , you need one clock only .....
Let say you have a 2408 sending the clock , the two other devices have to receive the clock from the 2408 either by the opticle cable or the coax wordclock .....
If you hear pops and clicks , that means you have multiple clocks ...

In your situation , let say The master adat is on a and the slave adat is on b ..... You should sync the clock on a and it should work . Do not use the 2408 clock ....sync on a .....
