DSP-Quattro for $49.50 through 11-29-2013

Post by mikehalloran »

If you missed the last sale and have any PSP plugins, there's a 72 hour sale being offered. I received the following this morning (I have no idea if non-PSP users can purchase through that link or not but I have my suspicions):

Dear user,

Don't worry, it's not a spelling mistake in the subject line of this newsletter. It is news about DSP Quattro not PSP Quattro ;-) For next 72 hours only, we're offering this extremely powerful Audio Editor / AudioCD Mastering Application for Mac OSX developed by our Italian friend - Stefano Daino - at a completely crazy 50% discount for 49* USD only!

Buy it now!

BTW, Stephano has released 2 updates in the last seven days, 4.23 to install properly in Mavericks as a Trusted Application and a bug fix, 4.24.

I don't know if either addresses the Izotope Ozone 5.04 issue. Since, technically, that is not a bug but something that requires a rewrite to eliminate Carbon, it would surprise me if it did. The Ozone 5.04 issue also affects DP 7.24 and I can't believe that MOTU would ever address it other than to release DP 8. For those who don't know this issue, here's the tech note and workarounds from Izotope:

I can't test the Ozone 5.04 issue. Because of a couple of old projects that aren't ready for DP 8 (I need to replace some outdated plugs), I am still using Ozone 5.03 for its DP 7.24 compatibility. 5.03 opens up just fine in DSP-Q 4.24.

I asked him about the Ozone issue fix and he said no. He also said he's working on a big rewrite of the program that will come out next year that will fix this issue. I'm stuck at Ozone 5.03. Same issue with Trash 2.

You can copy the 5.03 AU libraries from the Components Folder to a safe place, install 5.04 and then go back and replace the 5.04 AU with 5.03 in Components. That way you have 5.03 available in DP 7.24 and DSP-Q while having the 5.04 VSTs available in DP 8.

There is a new update of Ozone 5 that fixes the DSP Quattro problem. I checked the AU version and it looks good.

Really? I only see 5.04 which doesn't work, same as with DP 7.24 on my system. There is a 5.05b version for Windows only.

Izotope has a link to the 5.03 libraries on their support pages. Replacing the 5.04 AU with 5.03 AU does work as I mentioned earlier. Then you can use the 5.04 VSTs in DP. Logic users have to decide which version they prefer.

Hopefully, Stephano's new version will be 64bit. We already know he'll be dumping Carbon so that Ozone 5.04 and certain other plugs will work. Logic dumped Carbon based graphics with 9, DP did the same with 8.

Thanks for the link. I didn't find it through the support/download links. I did think it weird that there was a 5.05 for Windows but not for Mac.

Besides re-enabling 32bit Carbon compatibility, any other fixes in 5.05 for the Mac? The Windows version only mentions font issues that affect ProTools.
