BPM 2.0 ?

Ok...I'll need a late pass on this one guys. Apparently UVI teamed up with producer David Guetta to create Electrobeats. If you don't know what it is check it out here:

http://www.uvi.net/electrobeats_david-guetta_en.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After checking out some of the features and realtime experiences from the link above. I was like some of this will likely make its way into BPM. I know some of it has already but the multitrack export and pad modes functions looks perfect. I mean to me Electrobeats is like BPM's little brother. BPM 2.0, 1.6 or what should have every feature Electrobeats. Granted is MOTU's decision but with Machine 1.6 promising VST support Motu needs to bring it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I would really love to see all of the Electro beats features in the next version of BPM. The workflow looks pretty simple and uncluttered. Since UVI has the code already seems like a no brainer to me.

The only other 2 big things that would remain issues for me with BPM would be VST support (instruments and fx) and MIDI editing in racks sequencer. We need the same level of editing that we have on the step sequencer. BPM's step sequencer is just nuts. The rack is definately workable but needs a little love in the editing department. Oh yeah time signature options, tempo automation and a simple way to transpose patterns would really make BPM the complete music production workstation for me.

I think it was good move on UVI's part to hook up with a producer to develop a beat production app (duh!). Hopefully we will see some trickle down into BPM.

What are your thoughts?

Here are a few of the beats I've done with BPM:

In fact all of the beats on that site are done with BPM with exception of #63 (Cakewalk Kinetic) and the Free R&B download (Cakewalk Project5).

So this is what they have been busy working on. Very nice for an i-pad app. Looks like a few features we have been begging for are there. Pad mods for chromatic and velocity, mute solo from pads etc. Even a commit button for undo. Would be nice if those made their way into BPM some day. Not holding my breath though.

Looks like this and Maschfive 3 has been keeping the UVI team busy. Really hoping BPM will get some fixes and new features from this Ipad app. Like that prev/next feature too.

+1 cool to see the new features for that app, I'm sure that UVI will update BPM 2.0 to have similar features,and probably alot more. :wink:
