DP 10.11 update just popped up

Post by gseibert »

I just started DP 10.1 up today and was asked if I wanted to download 10.11. What the heck, what could go wrong?

Version 10.11 introduces the following fixes:

• Fixed bug were the wiper would stop moving when mouse was not moving.
• Fixed a bug where seeking backward one frame at a time would not reliably update the displayed video frame in the movie window.
• Fixed the CC MIDI event colors (and names) in the document templates.
• Fixed the default numbers and strings for CC data preference.
• Fixed a bug affecting macOS Catalina where open and save dialogs would not forward mouse clicks and other UI events to the custom accessory views embedded in the dialog (for selecting file formats, etc).
• Fixed an invalid memory access in the save dialog (Mac only).
• Fixed a crash that could occur when opening older documents that had loop lanes showing in the Sequence Editor.
• Fixed a bug where garbage data could be saved into a file if the project had loop events in them from earlier versions of DP. These projects could then crash DP when reopened later, so we added a workaround to open these projects successfully.
• Fixed a potential crash when closing windows.
• Fixed a bug where "Mute Toggle Selection" would not work on soundbites.
• Fixed a bug where the option to "interpolate automation events at edit boundaries" in the Event Chasing window would be invisible in some themes.
• Improved the edit boundary automation chasing feature's ability to avoid inserting unnecessary "anchor" events.
• Fixed a bug in the edit-boundary automation chasing in which only one effect parameter's automation would be preserved around the edit boundaries if the edit involved automation for the the same parameter on multiple instances of that effect.
• Fixed a crash when using Groove Quantize on an audio track selection.
• Fixed a bug where too many undo entries could be created when using Groove Quantize.
• Potential fix for intermittently unresponsive video playback.
• Fixed a bug where slowly dragging a marquee selection in the clip editor piano roll with smart selections enabled would sometimes not redraw notes when their selected-ness changed.
• Improved responsiveness of dragging a marquee selection in piano roll views with lots of notes while smart selections are enabled.
• Fixed a crash that could occur when dragging a chunk to the Song window.
• Fixed the document templates to have a default movie start time of 1:00:00:00.

Thanks for the heads up. Their download page is still showing 10.1.

If you download DP 10 from the link at the top of the page, you will indeed get DP10.11(83650).

Do we need to uninstall 10.1 before intalling 10.11?

No.

10.11 will overwrite 10.1 unless you change the name of 10.1,

It will also overwrite any files with the same names in the Shared folder — that cannot be prevented and where a lot of the problems lie..

Why does installing 10.1 always eliminate the MOTU plug-ins in 8.07?

Because 10.1 has the plugins embedded in the application package, not in the audio plugins folder. If you want both to run properly you'll have to use separate volumes or partitions.

Kind of a bummer that it can’t leave the old plugs in the folders.
Now I understand why DP 10.1 can run with 8.07 plugs.
But the manual is misleading because it mentions ability to have more than one version but that’s not really true is it? at least not without consequences

Yes, misleading, if not totally inaccurate.

You might try bouncing sans plugins to test if it’s a plug. That’s been a problem, especially with PSP VST plugs. AUs worked.

Hey, Mike!

Well, in Windows it does create a different folder, so you would have two installations - a 10.1 folder and a 10.11 folder. So, I went ahead and uninstalled 10.1 first so any wayward or persnickety shared resources also would not be pestering me! :-)

Re: DP 10.11 and Altverb

Post by HCMarkus »

The 10.11 installer is stealth... labeled as 10.1 on the MOTU site.

So y'all don't miss this, here's AudioEase's response re: Altiverb and DP10.1 and beyond:
The ability to change buffersize like this in new in DP 10.1 and we are aware of the problem Altiverb has with this. MOTU kindly pointed us to this already. WE have fixed this in the meantime, but we are now struggling to get our installers to work under the new requirements Catalina sets. As soon as we have fixed that we will have an update that cures this problem. Until then, re-load after changing the buffer size is the only option.
Thanks for reaching out.

One change that they made with 10.1 that I didn't like was in the markers window - I used to be able to click next to any marker and immediately jump to that location, but now I have to grab the pointer and move it to where I want. I was hoping to see that they put that functionality back in 10.11, but looks. like that's a feature now. Bummer!
