Like I said earlier, Trilian is near the bottom of my list, below a few dozen other libs, because it sounds like a DI'ed upright vs. a miked upright, even after heavy end user tweaking. But a lot of people actually like or want that sound, I guess.

+1 for the Ample bass upright . I got that recently and have been liking it quite a bit .

Okay, if you ever get a Seaboard, Roli Equator actually comes with a quite good upright patch that's made even better with the Seaboard. I used it for my latest tune (posted in the original music sub-forum).

I should point out that the Ample engine got an overhaul not too long ago. I haven't done another deep run on their bass since that time.

My main gripe about the majority of the libraries remains: VSL is still just about the only one that has recorded samples that go below "E".

BTW I used Vienna's Upright library last night to finalize some work on an Andean tune, and was amazed how it brought life to that piece and how its timbre blended so well with the Charango, Ronroco, and Sikus (Andean Panpipes).

So I'd say VSL's Upright library (quite affordable as well), works great for things other than just jazz. I haven't tried it for Jump Swing yet though, where Orange Tree Samples Pear Bass may still be the best match.
