Pitch shifting effecting all versions of a soundbite
I can't figure this out. I have a set of soundbites and I don't want them shifted in the first chorus, but there is a key change for the second chorus so I want them shifted there but when I change the pitch for the soundbites in the second chorus, it changes the chorus. When I cut and paste I don't have an option to great new versions of the soundbites. Anyway theoretically I should have to because it is non-destructive, right. I am totally lost. How can I pitch shift them in one place and have them unaffected in another? Thanks.

Re: Pitch shifting effecting all versions of a soundbite
Never mind, I figured it out. I selected the second set of soundbites (i.e. "clones") and used "Duplicate Soundbites" to create "duplicates". It seems counter intuitive, and wasn't easy to figure out. Why wasn't that the default when I transposed them if there were copies of the same soundbite but only some selected for the edit?

I'm sorry I can't supply a page number at the moment but if you look up 'Edge edit copy' in the user guide there's a whole section that explains MOTU's approach and why you're experiencing what you are.

Re: Pitch shifting effecting all versions of a soundbite
Another fairly quick option is to go to that second chorus and do a slight edge edit on all of the tracks with the Option key held down. That creates a new soundbite for each track and they're no longer tethered to the original.

Re: Pitch shifting effecting all versions of a soundbite
regarding this, I don't know if it's a bug or not. But if you enable "edge edit copy" and copy a soundbite and change the pitch, it still changes the pitch in the original soundbite. However, if you do it the way buzzsmith describes it, it works.
I usually have edge edit copy enabled and just merge the copied soundbites quickly before shifting pitches.

Re: Pitch shifting effecting all versions of a soundbite
Yeah, enabling edge edit isn't enough. You need to make the edit to create the new sound bite.
