Hardcopy DP9 user guide (manual)
Is there an actual Hardcopy DP9 user guide (manual)? I can't find anything on the MOTU website.
Re: Hardcopy DP9 user guide (manual)
Sorry. Not since DP 8, unless you print your own. The "Getting Started" guides are the only hard copies.

For those who don't know, it's eght searchable .pdf files available through the Help menu.
The main one is the Digital Performer User Guide. You can also find it online.
I'll take a set of searchable .pdf files any day over the large book that used to ship. Or the large box of manuals that used to ship—I recycled mine years ago.

Re: Hardcopy DP9 user guide (manual)
If you go to the DP app, you "show package contents" and Alt-drag the manuals out of the application package, and then drop them into Clippings folder. Once opened, you can just leave the manual behind the DP windows, or on another Screen.
I agree a searchable PDF is better than the old printed brick, but I wish they'd restore the broken links to take you from the Table of Contents to the referenced pages, and keep it synced with software updates.

Hi guys,
I wish MOTU would make a printed manual available for purchase. What can I say? I love books.

You can always print out the PDF. You only need a little more than two reams of paper or less double sided. For the longest time DP didn't have a PDF and we could go pirate hunting but those days are over. So few have had to walk the plank since then. Takes all the fun out of online...

On my keyboard (and most) Option-drag will drag a copy.bayswater wrote:If you go to the DP app, you "show package contents" and Alt-drag the manuals out of the application package, and then drop them into Clippings folder. Not only is a printed manual a ridiculous waste of resources, i.e., The Lorax would NOT approve-- DP has continued to expand into a more powerful and sprawling program, and the manual has probably moved past a reasonable size-- to where it could occupy two volumes. Also, if major versions come every few years, after which the obsolete printed manual goes to the recycle bin (or worse, to the land fill) often never opened (by many).
Also, our computers do quite enough environmental damage both being made and if they aren't properly disposed of and end up in the land fill-- so large PDF manuals are a way to be both less wasteful and have a searchable document that is more easily accessed.
Paper comes from trees and 7.5 billion people use lots of trees.

Re: Hardcopy DP9 user guide (manual)
Thanks for the comments, elucidation and humor! The reason I asked was because I was sitting at the desk and looked up at my hardcopy and saw it was DP8! No wonder I couldn't make sense of a lot of stuff!
