Swing a track just on playback?

Post by rosindabow »

Hi all - I want to write a track that should play back swung. In other words, write it in straight 4/4/ time but have it play the way a musician would play it if the word "Swing" was written on the manuscript. Is there some way to force DP to play a straight 4/4 - swinging? I do not want to change everything to 12/8
DP 11.22, Mac Pro 14,8 macOS X 13.5, 128 GB RAM, Apogee Symphony I/O, Apollo x8p, UAD plug-ins, PSP, Waves Mercury, NI Komplete Ultimate 14, Spectrasonics, Hollywood Orchestra, Spitfire; Symphobia, Los Angeles Scoring Strings, True Strike, VSL, real violins, guitars, mandolins, pianos, drums, percussion & lots of other stuff...

Talking MIDI I presume, can you simply apply real-time swing quantization to each track to achieve the desired playback timing?

HI - I'm not sure what you mean. I do not want to quantize the track because I want it to be able to be written as a player would read it. I just want to hear it back swung. Does that make sense?

What HCMarkus said...

It's a MIDI plugin, so you can bypass it anytime or even tweak the "hardness" of the swing right there in the plugin. You'll see everything straight but hear swing :unicorn:
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.
