Did the updates last week. Not on High Sierra yet, but these work great on Sierra -- perhaps a bit quicker to load, and more performant.

Re: Korg Legacy Series High Sierra Update
Thanks again to Lance for the reminder. I got the updates and installed...painless. Working fine
on Sierra here, too.
I'd forgotten how good these Korg Legacy synths sound...especially the Polysix, which brings back
memories of my old Polysix that I had for years. I never had a MonoPoly, but wanted one, the KLC
MonoPoly is spot-on.

Good to hear they work without HS. What is "performant"?mhschmieder wrote:Did the updates last week. Not on High Sierra yet, but these work great on Sierra -- perhaps a bit quicker to load, and more performant.

I suspect it can be used as a verb or adjective and it's certainly an acceptable noun. I got his comment right away but it is not a commonly used word. Mark's a pretty smart cookie!

Re: Korg Legacy Series High Sierra Update
Actually, it is an extremely commonly used word -- even more so than the overused (and incorrectly used) "literally" . But perhaps it is only used widely by engineers and marketing.
It is not a "real" word yet, as far as I know, in terms of acceptance into the Merriam-Webster International Dictionary. Marketing people came up with it 10-15 years ago.
Normally, I dislike it when new words come into play where an existing word does the job as well or better, but this is a rare case where there wasn't already as succinct and clear a way to say it.

Re: Korg Legacy Series High Sierra Update
Maybe it's a word with mainly local usage. I usually dislike such words too, especially when they are used in games of oneupmanship. This particular word doesn't seem to have been adopted by traditional dictionaries, surprising given the nonsense they do adopt. And it seems that two meanings are emerging that aren't that closely related. It's not off to a good start.mhschmieder wrote:Actually, it is an extremely commonly used word -- even more so than the overused (and incorrectly used) "literally" . Re: Korg Legacy Series High Sierra Update
Interesting. I'll look into that alternate meaning, which I wasn't aware of. The tech community uses this word heavily, as does the pro audio community, and I'm part of both. But the SF Bay Area is a bit of a bubble, as most people know.
Anyway, at least I think people now know what was meant by "performant", which is that the performance has been optimized as well as can be done with the available know-how, both for memory and CPU usage.
