When scoring to picture, how do you calculate the beats/BPM/Tempo?

In the old days, the published all time vs. tempo changes tables in books about the size of the yellow pages for a medium sized city. You'd look up the time you had left, and it would tell you the number of beats at various tempos to get to that point in time. There were several different books. Modern DAWs circumvent the need for all those books! Amazing!

In DP, use locked Markers and Find Tempo. Check the manual for how this works. DP shines here.
